Yup. Turborolla put one in his rolla:
http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic.php?t=1198 I thought he used a Supra gearbox and it was not a streight fit. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Gearbox is a problem..basically you have two options. The easiest option for the swap, but most difficult to find is sourcing a JDM soarer/cressida/some big car but dunno which 3SGE halfcut. There was one RWD car that got the 3SGE as standard. That would give you RWD motormounts, W-series tranny bellhousing and RWD Oilpan.
Otherwise it becomes a big adventure to drop one in..imho not worth the bother. Looking at the CA18DET in our AE86, that engine is close to a bolt in swap. All thats needed is a small extension of the motormount plates. Its already fully setup for RWD use. SR20DET would be similar. Horsepower very similar to the 3SGTE. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

I think you're refering to the Japanese Altezza ( RS200 ) which has indeed a 3SGE. Too bad it never got sold here.

i've heard there where some other cars which had the 1S/2S in RWD setup, those had T50 boxes (i've heard...). Turborolla uses a custom bellhousing (made from 3S and W58?? bellhousings)

You just need to find a RWD Corolla/Carina C-engine (diesel) bellhousing, screw it to W-series gearbox and nothing else. It fits straight to S-series engine
