Buying a European 86 for the UK

I have been away from the forum for a while, and couldnt find an answer to this via the search, but if there is already a thread, please direct me.

It looks like I will be trying for an EU 86 and shipping it to the UK (for a number of reasons, including cost and availability!) I know we are all one big happy borderless family these days but does anyone know of anything I should know before heading down this route?

When it comes to the car itself, I am happy I know enough to understand if I am buying a load of trouble, but my main concern is any legal or hidden pitfalls I might encounter.

This is all very premature as I am not ready to buy yet (unless someone wants a 2006 Fiesta in part ex!)

Hi,
I got my German AE86 in the UK, was gonna get it roadlegal, but heavy modified AE86 with me beeing only 23 is not going to happen, you might be lucky to get it on classic insurance if you´re older than 25.

Anyway, back to the topic, all you need is all the paperwork from whichever country the car comes from and a signed sales contract, to make it easy, bring your own english contract, otherwise you need someone certified to translate it.

What I was going to do is apply for a logbook (V61 iirc) with the chassis number, this should get you a V5

Talk to the DVLA, they´ll defintly know what to do...
