82mm Stock compression Pistons

Hi!

I'm in the process of getting my 4AGE back in stock form and I'm trying to reuse my original block that had 81,5mm wiseco pistons and 20k miles after had some kinks on them that eventually scratched the cylinder bores.

I can either get some sleeves and stock pistons or go with a 82mm piston setup. I'm not fond of putting new sleeves on 4AGE's, but i'm finding it very difficult to get stock compression pistons with 82mm of bore.

Does any of you know if there are brands that can get me to where I want to be?

The goal is to build a stock 4AGE for daily use. Good engine blocks are getting each day more difficult to find and I would also like to keep mine, as it is a 7 rib and the 40mm rod journal crankshaft is ok.

Any input will be appreciated!

If you cannot find any piston?? You could try this less than perfect solution. Rock Auto has .020" oversized pistons and rings for the SOHC engine. For $52 US dollars + shipping. You could use a thinner head gasket to bump the compression back up to stock or even higher. Cosmetic makes several different thicknesses of head gaskets for about $85USD. You may have other HG suppliers in Europe.

What stock compression ratio are you targeting ?
-9.4:1 bluetop (super lame)
-10:1 European bluetop
-10.3:1 smallport
-10.5:1 Silvertop (that the one I would pick for a daily drive)
-11:1 Blacktop

Even with everything else stock, having more compression is a good thing.

Anyway, most piston manufacturer can do custom jobs.

Already got a quote from wossner pistons at 217€ Each piston. It’s a little steep!
