AE85/AE86 disambiguation question
Alright, so I've found an old corolla, and I'm pretty sure it's either a AE85 or an AE86. The thing is, I've looked everywhere and I still can't get enough info to make sure which it is. I only got to look at the car for a short time, so I can't answer all questions to make sure. All know is, it was a RWD corolla, has Trueno style flip up headlights, and it doesn't have a 4AG. I was wondering if there were any American AE85s that had trueno style headlights as opposed to levin style. If not, then it might be an 86 with a different engine. Iv'e heard about another engine type for this corolla, the "20v" I think? Could it be this? Did 86s come with this motor in the US? I should have done more research....
One more thing, I've never seen the rims it had on any Corolla before, and the previous owner isn't the kind to change rims. I could describe them if it would help. |

AE85/AE86 disambiguation question
Its an AE85 or SR model as they are called over in your neck of the woods. No levins were ever sold in the US.
Regarding engines etc the tech reference over at club4AG is a great place to start your research. Have a look at the stickys over here as well. They will answer most the questions you will soon have. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Figured it was an 85. Thanks. I'm still going to try to get it as I can probably steal it for about $100
