Also, if you can sell that brand new block (Keep the head Wink ) you have a bit more to play with, save some more money and do full-tune Bigport or smallport head w/ae101 throttles and standalone ECU w/dizzy-less ignition & COPS (Coil on plugs)+ as well as Toda pistons, lightweight pulleys along with full engine balance, oughta put you around the upper top 20 of most serious street-engine builds on most 86 forums Wink

You just descriped my build Smile

On another note, considering you intend to drift with this car and the fact you can't import an engine from abroad. What about a engine swap from another car which is available (miata, rotary, ca18, etc)?

Keep the block and sell the head Smile

Half decent heads are plentiful but when was the last time a brand
new block became available ?

Ideally you want to build the engine from a full donor engine as
everything you need is there already.
If you can find a smallport crank and rods then you can buy new smallport
pistons to fit the new block from Toyota at reasonable cost.
Smallport pistons are the best stock 16v pistons available, last time I
enquired on price they were £72 each + rings.

Or get custom ones like me incl. pins and ring for ~700$ the set, that's 100 more than what you'd pay for OEM

Has to be block with oil squirters imo.
3 rib is a bit on the weak side (Someone tried remedying that on my car by screwing plates along each side of the block, it didn`t help Tongue )

Either keep all of it to build basically an immaculate stock ae86 engine (Only one in the world hehe) but if you want reliable performance even with a lot of tuning an ae92 kouki, ae101 or ae111 block is needed.

Bean: Well how about that! How much HP u getting at the wheels? 150?
