AE86 / AW11 interchangability
Hiya,

I have picked up on a rumour some time ago by some people on this forum (Mux anyone) that the AE86 and MR2 AW11 front brake assemblies might be interchangable.
I didn't think much of it, but recently I've found a source of really cheap big brake upgrade kits for the AW11..And with cheap, I mean really cheap..like 450E and without big shipping costs.

So if there is any truth to this rumour, please let someone who can compare speak up now.

cannabolic,

You sure you didn't buy first gen single piston calipers (also featured on 4lug FCs) ? someone selling 4 pots FC calipers for 30 E is nuts and should be committed! A rebuild set for those calipers cost more already!

AW11 uses 4x100 PCD and an FWD offset, so i guess all the front is different, but dunno about that for sure. D.wars didn't have his AW11 that long so i could take a good look at it Big Grin

NoHachi I think it was the 2nd Gen MR2 that Rutger was looking at. Not the AW11. Still no idea if they would fit without adapters or anything...

I did pay 50 euro's for my spare set but that was because I bought them along with some other bits and the seller thought they needed a rebuild and was surprised to find them being in pretty good shape, but the deal was done and he had already sold his car a long time ago so he gave me a breakBig Grin

but 30 euro's for good FC calipers is just nuts, normal running price for a set of good rebuild FC calipers is around 250 euros or so.

I don't see how any MR2, be it AW11 or SW20, would have brakes that fit the AE86. Unless it's the calipers only. As stated above, 4x100 psd for aw11, and 5 stud for sw20.

Sometimes in Poland you can get stuff cheap, because rare parts can be expensive or they can be cheap, and RX-7's are rare here.

Just like parts for AE86's. If some one knows, a AE86 is rare, then the price is high. But if they think it's only a 85 Corolla or so, then you can pick stuff up cheap. Like I paid around 70€ for a complete differential, lsd, brakes, etc...
