AE86 + CA18DET
One thing is crossing my mind lately.
I have a spare CA18DET engine and ae86 chasis in my backyard, so why not put this two things together? I know that SR20DET is 15kg lighter then CA18DET. I know that S2000 F20C suits more with it's revy nature to the ae86, but i have no choce. CA18DET sticks there and i have to do something with it. I also have one s13 chasis for using engine mounts, ecu, driveshaft, harness, maybe control panel. What do you guys think? I have't found any ca18det powered ae86, only with sr20det. I think that 4AGTE is powerful enough.
The problem will be transmission. PS: The S2000 engine rotates in opposite direction ! |

Personally, I wouldn't want to put that engine in any car, especially an AE86.
That's just my opinion, but the fact of the matter is the bottom ends of the CA18 are made of cheese... soooo many failures over here in S13's. Knocking big ends as standard. Why not try and sell it and put in a nice, fresh 4AGE (16v or 20v), 4AGZE, 4AGTE or even an SR20 DET if you have to go Nissan/Toyota hybrid |

BTW, S2000 engines turn in the correct direction..only older honda engine's turned in the opposite direction.

Yes yes, i know all of this BUT i have white AE86 with pretty much everthing i need AND i have another AE86 chasis + CA18DET AND i have spare S13 chasis (with no papers = not legal).
So all ingredians are in my backyard. Just need a "bit" of work to put all this together. Maybe just to build it as a 1/4 mile runner. Drifting - best fun you can have in your car with your pants on! |
