As the bumper usually fits other AE86's no problem - so it's unlikely to be the bumper that's at fault. I'd suggest it's the different front panel that's causing a problem there, Conrad.
I'd wait to fit the headlights, grille, etc. first before cutting the bumper - to make adjustments to it all lines up OK. HTH, Miguel. VISIT OUR NEW WEBSITES!!!! I don't suppose you have a photo of the rear wheels fitted? I'm looking at getting a set of exactly the same spec wheels but in black. Cheers

Conrad Wrote:Update, Front wings finished. The bumper was fitted up and it looks like the bumper edges need adjusting to follow the arch profile better. (aftermarket bumpers for you) Agree with Miguel on that one - fit up lights etc before chopping up the sides of bar. Also are you using a custom bumper bracket with the kit or modded OEM ones? I'm running 15x8.5J's on the front of mine and with +4 degrees caster they fouled the bumper edge (common with wide front wheels/aggressive offset) I actually mounted the OEM front bumper brackets further forward using the front-most of the 2 top holes on the chassis rail and some 1" ali spacers on the main bolts that go into the chassis rail from the front. But If you're using a custom front bar mount for the Origin kit you could just tweek it a bit to give extra clearance Here's the result with Origin front fenders (note I did not re-radius the arch, just trimmed the inner lip/tab the bumper attaches to) RokuSteady : Shakotan - Tsuraichi - Hippari - Onikyan : 神奈川 様式 |

The problem is that you have pulled the arch out, therefore the wheel arch line has moved foward and is now misaligned with the bumper. If you cut it it will look crap. Packing it out is a good answer. Kid Karola's looks good so no reason that yours wont too.

I certainly did not want to pack the front bumper out, that is a bodge, the picture above looks terrible, its just not right and that is not good enough.
The job has been completed correctly to keep the circle of the arch. Front bumper to wing alignment corrected. and..... work on the rear arch flares is under way Slow but steady progress.....no rush now with me being overseas I'm currently taking HRT ~ Hachi Roku Therapy |
