Brutal. Can't you get the mods certified instead?

Here in Switzerland you'll pay a (potentially big) fine, and the car will be taken off the road - giving you the opportunity to go get all the mods certified, or to return to stock. Only street racing will lead to the car being confiscated and auctioned off.

Sounds very similar.

Yes you can get modification plates for some items.

However, some things like a Willwood brake kit cannot because "Race only".

You can do a brake swap or upgrade like Rx7 but by the letter of the law you must swap the entire brake system.

Air intake system must be factory and enclosed with a breather back into the intake.

Rose joints etc a no because race only.

Interior has to be factory or approved aftermarket seat and rail.

That photo reminds me of a certain AE86. Do you still own the Chowini Macau AE86?

You have a good memory Art.

Yes I do, the 1983,84,85,86 GrpA Macau car,,

A good few years ago I also managed to get my hands on a sister car, the 1986 Macau GrpA car.

Exact same circumstances, car unused since 1986

Both are in storage for now.

This car I am building now has a few spare tribute items, like a spare 10,000 rpm tacho and the 1983 wheels.

Did you even find a spare cluster? Huh
Did you get it from RMF or did it come with the second group A car?
I did add the Chowini cluster to the AE86 gauge cluster page a long time ago. The information I had back then was that the Finnish company RMF got a batch of Chowini rev-counters and sold them. You can find that page here:

And the photo I used is indeed the cluster of your first Group A car. Wink

Yes I remember that article & the info is correct.
I wish I remembered where I got the spare cluster, my memory is failing but it will pop into my head. It could even have been a member on here years ago. But yes I think it came from Finland.
Its a full working Tacho, very intricate & yes it genuinely goes to 10k its not for decoration.
On the second grpA car the logo is not there and it shows a symbol which I assume is the manufacturer.

Thanks for sharing that! Thumbs up!
It just caught my eye that the face plates for the tachometer are based on the GT/GT-V layout where the ligths and tail-lights warning lights are absent:

GT Apex on the left, GT/GT-V on the right.

It's also strange to see the wire on pin 14 is missing in that last photo, so could the basis for the car have been a UK spec car?

I've bought an ignition system for a carbed 4AG, which came from RS Harada apparently. I can't find any info on it, but maybe it's the same company which also made this cluster?
I remember years ago i saw a 10k rpm gauge cluster for an EP71 Starlet, maybe they did that one as well, but can't remember exactly who made it.
