see alot of projects where they paint everything in some black rust protection ...
cant remember the name of any protection.

i used POR15 (POR stands for Paint over rust)
you can use it on parts with light rust otherwise you have to sandblast it first and then paint it
there's some chemical stuff in it that dehumidified the rust so that the rust can't spread anymore

unfortunately this site is only in german but you can get there everything you need for rust protection and restoration
