AE92 brake booster and master cylinder into AE86
Hi everyone.
I am having problems with my brake master cylinder (it is leaking like crazy) and I wanted to change it but it seems that it would be quite expensive job. Today In my local Junkyard I found Corolla AE92. It is with 4AFE engine. My question is Can I take the brake booster and the master cylinder and install them on my AE86. It is a three bolt pattern, but I was more consern about the diameter of he brake cylinder piston and the booster, because I don't want to ruin the brake balance and feel of my car. I tried to find information about such a swap, but I could find anything. Thanks |

On the master cylinder, there should be a number indicating the piston size.
If it's the same, and booster is about the same in shape and volume, there should be a good fit, with no changes in balance and feel. Japan 4 Ever |

Thanks. Tomorrow I'll go to the junkyard and I will try to find the diameter of the bore. I browsed some sites and what I found was that the AE86 is 13/16 and the AE92 is 7/8. Could it be a problem to use 7/8 on stok brake system. I guess there won't be a problem for the bolt pattern for the brake servo to the car body... Anyway if there are people that have made that mod.. I would be glad to hear them. Thanks

Also it would be great if someone could provide me with information about rebuild kits or what make models and years brake master cylinders fit. Because I am a bit lost browsing on ebay for rebuild kits on decent price.

first of all 7/8 is no issue at all - I got a 7/8 on my car originally (4bolt pattern).
I don't know how much the rebuild kit costs around your place - when mine finally let go I simply took it apart and my friend at the garage sourced the kit for ~10$. I think some Hilux/4runner use the same design. As far as I know most of the rebuild kits are the same as long as they match the diameter (13/16) and are from a similar age Toyota. AE86 ex-daily |

It seems that this would work for me, but for that price I would get the AE92 master cylinder with the brake booster... I would try to sort out a cheaper rebuild kit, but I would most likely go with the AE92 brake mooster and cylinder. |

Just take into consideration that the one from the scrappy could potentially fail on you shortly too.
