Air filter setup related question
Guys,
I want to create more airflow onto the air filter. There , i guess can be 2 main ways to do this: 1. Take the filter itself to a good airy place like under the front lip by extending the piping 2. Keep the filter as it is but create a path where air from the front of the car gets Chanelled onto the air filter which is what I see in most stock setups (even in STIs) What's the difference between the two interms of performance? Which is the best option? I dont want water in my engine and Sri lanka is filled with water during the raining season so I'm slanting towards the 2nd option. Thanks, Heshan. both options work equally good. the crucial point is to shield the fresh air to the intake from the rest of the engine bay.
for some this is easiest by your explained method one, other do method 2 without shielding which is ok but not ideal. to illustrate a bit - something like this should be preferred http://www.rmgto.com/gallery/albums/Odds...0004v2.jpg regarding water entering, have a few bends in there and simply don't mount it too low AE86 ex-daily |

Air filter setup related question
Your welcome
I can never stress enough the importance of proper channeling of the air. When ever air isn't guided it will take the path of least resistence, which isn't where we want it to go most of the time AE86 ex-daily |

Air filter setup related question
Bean bandit, I have put a larger radiator which is pretty wide. Even though it helps the cooling, doesn't help on the air flow aspect.
Do you think I should go for a godspeed or something which is the original size with powerful fans and keep the side spaces to keep my air flow channels? Cheated on my いたずらな女の子 and now I can't get enough of her.. |

I'd keep the rad and duct the air to flow through it and not around.
There are so many possibilities to duct air to the filter I can't list them all - if you don't have any room between the lights and radiator, try to bring the air in from under the filter (in front of the wheel, it dead space anyway). AE86 ex-daily |

Air filter setup related question
true..
I've got an example of a car that made a cold air intake in front of the wheel right at the bottom.. not good for sri lanka but i think concept would work for me.. I might keep my filter as it is but make a path similar to this.. http://www.pdm-racing.com/features/AE86_buildup2.html Cheated on my いたずらな女の子 and now I can't get enough of her.. |

Air filter setup related question
jup you can do it like that and yes, better keep that filter inside the engine bay - the pdm-racing setup wouldn't work here either when a 10min rainfall floods most the streets turning my car almost into a submarine.
just make sure you seal the area around the filter off to get max effect. AE86 ex-daily |
