Airbags?
Do AE86's have airbags?
If not, would it be possible to install them? |

Airbags?
No airbags in an AE86. You could probably fit one on the drivers
side, if you could figure out a way to adapt a later model steering wheel (the type with the self-contained airbag mechanism in the hub). Cheers... jondee86 |

Airbags?
I think installing an airbag would be a bad idea.
Airbags are tuned to the vehicle which they are fitted to with regards to bag size and shape, the amount of propelant used and when the sensor desides to trigger the bag. These factor are tuned depending on how the vehicle deforms in an accident and the layout of the vehicle - sit low and long in a sports car and high and upright in an SUV/MPV. You'll probably end up with either A) the bag going off and deflating too quickly, doing nothing other than burning your face or B) not deflating soon enough and the being knocked out as the steering column moves (if the column moves back with the bag fully inflated it will be like being hit in the face by a block of concrete). If you really want an airbag your are better off driving a different car. |

Airbags?
Yeah retrofitting airbags on older cars doesn't sound like a good idea. Airbags requires computer systems and many sensors. Airbags are also very dangerous if they are not fit into the gith applications.
