Alloy hubs versus stock
Yes I have seen the V series. I might be able to get there with the S13 setup, and by using the adjustable arms I have on the front...
For the rear I have 50-60mm to make up, and the V series dont go that far negative on the offset. I could do a Hilux conversion but I think IRS is the way to go long term, since Ill be going turbo at some stage. |

Alloy hubs versus stock
On the Car Factory N2 AE86 They use 9.5J -20 all around (with 10mm spacers I think) OEM rear axle and TRD fender.
They are available in 10J -25 (~18mm wider than the 9.5J -20) so that should be wide enough. For the turbo setup -> The DMAC 86 with 13B turbo (supposed to be 500hp, but I think it's lower than that) still have the OEM rear axle with Weir big axles kit. |

Yeah they will be an option, as will the Work CR01's. Lots more offset sizes in CR01.
Im looking to support 5-600WHP (7AGTE). So will need to do a gearbox and rear end I think. |

Alloy hubs versus stock
Project D Wrote:1.8kg (weighed 5min ago ) D? Do you mean the original alloy wheels, 85-style, usually called "pizza cutters" in the States? Or some other alloy wheels? In the US market there were different ones each year. "Hubs" in Colonial would be the hub caps, the center caps, on plain steel wheels, so I know I'm starting behind a translation problem.<G> Always did want to know what the alloy wheels weighed, no one ever has one handy with a scale. Original owner, 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S in the US of A. Will trade for a Cadillac-Gage V150 or a Ford GT44. |

We are talking about the hub, not the wheel.
Alloy wheels are over 5kg each typically depending on size and construction method. |

Oh, the wheel hub itself!
My bad, thank you for clearing that up. Original owner, 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S in the US of A. Will trade for a Cadillac-Gage V150 or a Ford GT44. |

Alloy hubs versus stock
My alloy hubs are only 0.88kgs, saves 1 whole kg of unsprung rotating mass

Alloy hubs versus stock
It's an old thread but here are my thoughts:
1. In addition to the lower unspring weight, I imagine these will dissipate heat better than the stock units. 2. Durability is what I'm mainly wondering about, especially on bad roads, and how long they would last compared to an oem hub. Also, if the steel bearing races on the aluminum hub could present any issues over time during normal use, and when installing/removing the races for maintenance. |
