Well, there are some cars, but i don`t know how many. I think it may be about 20 and probably all of them are Levins. I must admit, i didn`t see any Trueno. I can be wrong of course. I`m afraid of the ls diff, cause it`s expensive...

Not only the diff itself, every component of the real axle is expensive. A friend of mine asked about a new unit - if it is still produced and how much would it cost. The price tag on it is about a 1000 (one thousand!) euros. You could get a whole car for that!

There aren't many cars over here, I suppose it's 30 or 30-something at most. Even though that's not very much, there are some real enthusiasts, and I'll try to get them here if possible.

Ahhh, VTEC. All the lag, none of the turbo. It's like waiting for bad sex.

Darkstar,

Buying any part for the hachi new from Toyota is very very expensiveSmile But there are other options. Also you need to wander whats broken on your diff.

If you have a working rear axle you can recondition it yourself. Depending on what is warn out you can make it as expensive as you want.

Prices I know off (indications)
Rebuilding your LSD unit itself, so new clutchplates and so on costs you about 150 euros in parts.
Replacing ring and pinion if its warn out is around 150 to 200 euros
New wheel bearings you can get around 100 euros for a set

So in theory you could recondition your rear axle for around 400 euros + labour. In practice often you don't need to do all these things to a well maintained rear axle.

Offcourse when you want to go further, or you've really damaged your axle seriously the story changes. A 2-way aftermarket LSD unit (Kaaz, TRD, Cusco) can set you can over 800 euro's if not over 1000. Alternative stronger ring and pinion sets set you back over 300 euros.
But that sorta thing you only need if you want to go racing or drifting proffesionally. Personally I would spend that kinda cash in suspention and only start looking at spending many bucks for your rear axle if you are really serious about drifting or have to much money on your hand.

Those prices are on the positive side mux...
-Factory ring&pinion costs 600 euro's (!!!only the gears!!!)
-TRD ring&pinion kit (maybe with bearings) costs around 370 euro's shipped from japan.
-Techno pro spirits Ring and pinion costs around 330-350 euro's for a 4.7 or 4.5 ratio.

wheel bearings are 100 euro's a piece from most suppliers...but they can be found for less if you're willing to import.

Diff bearings will add up to about 150 euro's I think..
New factory LSD costs 7 or 800 euro's probably.

So there you go...a complete new rear axle for 1000 euro's would be a bargain. Just replacing all the bearings, the ring and pinion, and putting some fresh clutches in an old lsd will amount up to about a 1000 euro's including labor.

Dont be put off by the prices to much though..used lsd's can be found all over europe with a bit of effort, wheel bearings last pretty long. Only the ring and pinion gears + bearings and the clutches in the diff die pretty fast if the car was used for drifting.

Finding cars isn't easy, especially if people like ToyPower are importing them from Poland to Holland. Big Grin
