Aram's 3SGE Beams Levin Coupe
Something weird happened yesterday.
I went to a friend in a nearby town and on the way up there it was the same old song, 800rpm idle and dipping away when going off the throttle. Then on the way home I gave it some boot but not all the way (I gave myself a 1000km work in period for the engine). During that trip it was running 1200rpm at idle with no dipping, it just went directly to a steady 1200 rpm. So at home I let the engine run at that rpm and adjusted the tps a bit towards it's original position but let it go back from 1200 rpm to 800rpm. Then I stopped the engine and did some other stuff, later on the day I went to some other friends and still did 800rpm but without the dipping...... Strange, but it looks like the tps is the problem, not the fuel supply? |

Aram Wrote:Something weird happened yesterday. might as well be - the 4AGE behaves similar when the ECU doesn't get a clear signal that the throttle body is closed and hence at idle. Glad you got it sorted so quickly and hope you can enjoy it now even more in the New Year (a Happy one at that) AE86 ex-daily |

Yeah, I hope it stays this way, drives much better hehehe.
The tps is not back in it's original position though, I still wonder why I had to adjust it that much. Pack: Thanks. |

62psi/4.2bar should be right.
Looking at your other pictures, it looks like you have a vacuum line connected to your FPR. I would remove it and see how it runs. The BEAMS ECU is programmed around static fuel pressure (or near static). Andrew |

Well, that did not work, the pressure is constant but the idle is fluctuating again. :-(
Could it be something with the lighter trd flywheel? |

And now it is steady again, I've got a weird car.
But as long as everything keeps developing in the right direction it's fine with me. :-) |

Aram Wrote:And now it is steady again, I've got a weird car. Anytime you move the tps you need to let the ecu learn again, just reset it and then let it run and idle to full temp. Beams ecu is a learning ecu and iirc this is the procedure when changing it when replacing a tps. Although some require checking the spec via scantool while installing. Andrew |
