Banpei's two door panda Trueno from Japan
I decided to split my original topic as it was getting very long. The original topic can be found here.
Earlier this week I had some spare time on my hands and I decided to tackle one of the eyesores on the AE86: The previous owner repainted the entire car, but omitted to paint the window mouldings, popup headlight surrounds, popup headlight brows and the side markers. I already painted the window mouldings a few years ago, so now the other three were left to be done. There is a deep cut in the left moulding due to a misaligned panel (you can spot it in the photo above) and scratching against this panel when the popups open and close. I rectified the panel, but I left the above scratch. After painting: It's not the best paint job, but it's heaps better than what it was. It still requires a quick cut and polish and the orange side marker on the right side definitely needs a deep polish. After that, I probably need to do the grill as well as that's now the only unpainted piece. That reminds me: the wiper arms also need a lick of paint! 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Banpei's two door panda Trueno from Japan
Small update. I replaced the Tanabe Exhaust with a Fujitsubo Legalis-R W-tail as described in this topic.
I also made a comparison video between the two exhausts: The old Tanabe exhaust was then traded with another AE86 owner for a set of Atiwe Käseloch (cheesegrater) wheels that originate from a Haslbeck trim. I fitted the wheels, but wasn't happy with the looks and someone already bought them and picked them up last weekend. Two weeks ago, R.ave contacted me about a journalist who wanted to feature his AE86 on the Dutch Toyota website. Unfortunately, the engine of his AE86 was at that moment being removed to be swapped into the car of the owner I traded the Tanabe exhaust with. So he referred the journalist to me. The idea is basically to create a portrait of a Toyota owner who has an interesting car and is attached to the brand. They did a similar portrait on various owners, like a Sera, a Carina and four Crowns Then last week the photoshoot happened: It's still unclear when the story will be published, but probably somewhere in November or early December. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Indeed, good to see the local drivers find eachother to swap parts with I look forward to the article and on what I have missed out on... |
