CJ's AE86 project
Finally,
with the great help of my good friend - bad_dog - i have fulfilled one of my dreams - a 20v swap in my AE86 Respect to bad_dog's dadication to my AE86 20v project! First impressions: although i was very enthusiastic about it, the engine doesn't feel as fast as expected. Of course, it needs more fine setting, or maybe my perception has changed since i bought an Impreza STi this summer, but still - the car looks almost as fast as my previous "a little" modded 16v Other than that - it looks like the engine is running normally. No vibrations or strange noises. Occasionally, there is some smoke coming out of the exhaust - i'm guessing it needs new piston rings. The head was rebuilded, but i did not "explore" the bottom end. Pretty much that's it for now. I'll keep you updated after i perform some accelaration and speed measuring. To sum up the setup: - 4AGE 20v Silvertop - rebuilded 20v head - open air ITBs - 4-1 OBX header - 63mm stainless-steel exhaust piping- Megasquirt v3.0 (DLI setup) - Innovate LC-1 Wideband Sensor Here are some pics. After I clean and wash the car, i promise, i'll post some more:  PS: - TechnoToyTuning trumpets are on the way - new water silicone hoses to be installed - ugly steel water lines to be replaces with better-looking ones - longer 20v spark plug wires to be installed since these are a little stretched and i cannot put back the engine cover 1984 Toyota Corolla 4AGE 20v 2007 Subaru Impreza STi |

Yesterday i installed the T3 ITB trumpets along with the Pipercross filters:
So far so good... Here is what happen after 10 minutes of testing on the freeway: ...those Individual Trottle Bastards (ITBs  ) tore and sucked in my filters. I manage to take out the pieces from 1st and 4th cylinder intake manifold, but 3 had already slawolled it. 1984 Toyota Corolla 4AGE 20v 2007 Subaru Impreza STi |
