Tip: replace shifter bush!
I just replaced the plastic bush on my shifter-end. What an improvement... nice tight feel again! For everybody who has some slag in the shifterknop, this is a very easy and cheap fix!
I forgot to take any pictures but I will do that when I will do the rebuild of my other car (within two weeks). The bush I used came from the dealer and cost 5 euro. You need to take away the plastic dashboard parts around the shifter. Then you will find 4 bolts on a steel plate, this holts the rubber boot down. Underneath the big boot there is a small tight dust boot ontop of the joint, take is off and slide it up the shifter-shaft. Now the joint is exposed, you will find a C-clamp wich holds the rounded joint in its housing, take it out. Now you can take the whole shifter out. Clean everything and put the new bush at the tip of the shifter. Put the assembly back in, make sure you place the c-clamp correct and deep enough in its slot. Reassemble all rubber boots and dashparts. Now you are done and you can enjoy each gearshift again!! Have fun! Pics will folow within 2 weeks. Ciao! |
