Celica GT4 brake calipers
I think I'we seen here, on this forum, a while ago AE82 with front 2 piston calipers from Celica GT4 ST185...

My question is how much is work to fit one of those on a AE82, what do I need besides the calipers itselfe?

Tnx Thumbs up!

I don't know about ST185 calipers, but the single piston ST182 front calipers are a straight bolt-on job for the AE82 and can be used with 255x22 AE101 front discs (they need a 0.5mm strip of metal in the center hole to be hubcentric, though). We used these on our racecar last season and they stop the car pretty well but overheat in the long run (we race 6 hours continuously).

Now we've fitted a pair of MR2 Turbo twin pot calipers to our car, but they needed adapters. My teammate made two steel plates which change the bolt holes slightly more apart and locate the caliper a bit further from the hub. He then made a spacer out of aluminium to get the caliper offset right. We couldn't find a suitable brake disc from any Toyota, but found that a 280x24 disc from 98+ Renault Laguna have 4x100 PCD and a perfect offset - only an adapter ring needed to be made in a lathe to get them hubcentric. The brakes fit just barely under 15" rims, so they are quite perfect! Here's a few photos;

I was also wondering what about main brake cilinder, did you leave it stock?

And rear calipers, also did you leave it stock?

What do you recommend ?

We've got the stock AE82 main cylinder for now but will do some testing first thing when the snow melts to see if it moves enough fluid. If not, we'll need to find a bigger one to replace it.

The rear brakes are also stock AE82 ones for now. We've got an adjustable proportioning valve so we should be able to get the brakes balanced. If the rear brakes aren't up to the task, we might need to see if we could run MR2 rear brakes as well.
