Just got this car 2 days ago 220k on body, Car wouldn't steer, pulled the rack out and bought a new used one from a non PS car, havnt put it in yet, are the PS racks known for going out?... but any way, I need some help on figuring out why this car is running goofy... The guy said it might have a bad ring(dont know what ring or where).

After you start it, you need to have to floored(WOT) for it to stay running(it like bounces around at 500-800rpms, will cut off if gas is let off of) then when it hits 2-3k it just revs up like normal, any ideas?? maybe tune up, or the afm or maf? My cousins said a ring wouldn't do this... my cousin thinks the timing is off.

Here is a picture of my corolla im in the US if any one is wondering, I plan on putting a 4agze in it before (just for something fun and peppy to drive) I take my 300zx off of the road for upgrades... it will be my new daily driver...

Oh and I figured out my problem, I think valve timing is off, thats why it takes long to start and wont stay running.

this is how I got it, idiots had it and primered it, and they did a horrible job on it. but it is like 99% rust free, its pretty hot where I live so... I paid 325 dollars for it.

here are my Zs, been working on Zs for years, just now digging into the corollas, my cousin has like 4, 3 1979s and 1 1977, all 2t motors

just got done on the motor in this, low milage 2.8 liter turbo inline 6, 4spd trans, now going to start on body work and paint. No lsd... I paid 75 dollars for this car, and put 200 dollars in it to get it to where it is.

here is my daily driver, Clutch lsd rear end 3.7, It has 17inch and 9 inch wide rims on it now..., 320cc injectors(stock is 260, got 320s for free so), 14 psi of boost, tunable ecu, 5spd, 260,000 miles these motors are bullet proof. 320-330 ft-lbs of torque estimated from other peoples setups that are close to mine. this motor has high miles so when the corolla is drivable Ill take mine off of the road for bigger turbo, injectors, and engine rebuild...

Under 800 rpm your engine should stall, so I think you need to adjust the idle screw a bit. Wink
Nice rides! 75 dollars is a bargain for a Z! Thumbs up!
