Crappy Suspension
Well I'm guessing the problems the suspension. The car just moves alot...more than it should...when going over bumps or judderbars it seems to upset the car, makes it move not only up and down like normal but it feels like its moving slightly left to right....like tire wall ride.

Would this be cause by shocks? springs? bushings? or tyres? It just feels real upset when cornering hard-ish...I don't really know how to explain it really hahahah. Sometimes when I go over bumps its more have a whack feeling than a smooth absorbsion feeling that you should feel..bushings look all old and stuffed but they normally look that way on old-ish cars. Also is changing these going to fix the problem?

Any help would be great!

Bushes bushes everywhere!!!!

Also change springs as they will be getting tired and a new pair of shock absorbers (uprated if to can afford them) Thumbs up!

So your saying, change the bushes..then get some nice koni shocks and lowering springs and it should be alot better?

check your front wheel bearings,ball joints and the alignment also

Oh ok, cool. I am getting new tyres fitted soon so I'll get them to do all that stuff.

Who, the tyre guy? Quite unlikely friend. Changing the bushings is no easy task and will require a few hours of hard work.

While your checking your bushes, also check the holes in the bottoms arms where the anti-roll bar (sway bar) drop link bolts through.

This can wear oval.... hence the clonking.

Just get somone to weld some metal back in to it, and ream it out to the correct diameter again.


As a temporary measure, fit an extra washer under the nuts at each end of the drop link, and tighten up. This can take out a bit of the slack in the bushes.

Also check your steering column to steering rack universal joint. A little play here can also cause clonking.
