DIV 1 rally/track 4AGE(objective +- 130 whp)
I also look for planning an 4AGE engine with the following specifics

=>DIV 1 trackcar/rallycar
Tvis should be visible seen, aka no 4 throttle bodies
Should at least sound a bit like a normal engine,no engine tuning is allowed so no machine gun style of cams Smile

With some people at club4AGE we came up with the following setup so far
Any suggestions for improvements or things that could be done better

0.8 mm gasket
arp bolts =>safety measure
Hks valve springs =>safety measure
tomei poncams
cam gears
headwork
Combustion chamber deburring
Injectors in the range of 250-300cc
ae92 pistons
4A-G DIYPNP

Not allowed but you want to tune it anyway.
Soooo nice spirit Undecided (In other word that what we call cheating...)

With 130whp everyone will see this is not the standard engine...

Uprated bolt is not considered as tuning so ARP bolts are Ok.
You can also use oversized piston (since they are available new from Toyota)
but if you have a bluetop engine you can't use AE92 pistons -> the pin size is different.

After that, everything you will do is not allowed, so don't do it.
(Or race in another division where engine tuning is allowed)

I would gladly drive in another class if belgium rules were not so goddam stupid.Car inspection as div I is the only way to get a Bolted cage legal in the car, welding is not even allowed.
Zero tolerance on engine tuning etc etc.
and still be road legal

I think you misunderstand why i want to do the engine updates at one point
Im not doing the updates for rally but for track,im not gonna do that much rally's.+class 1 is really no big deal, not much cars compete no glory to get here.

On a sidenote every rallycar cheats the rules until the highest levels.

I have an 7rib largeport so i think those are 20mm and can take the ae92 pistons

OK ! Now I understand ^^
You just want to keep your car "street legal" and you registered your car on Division 1 to allow you to have a roll cage Smile
I have a friend in Belgium who tried that but he have ITB's and MSPNP.
-> Still road legal (he manage to pass the normal inspection with them ^^) but he can't have a roll cage...

MSPNP + Poncam would be great combo.

For the injectors you don't need something that big like 300cc
-> injectors around 250cc should be enough. (a fuel pressure regulator may be useful too)

You should also rise the compression ratio around 11.5:1
(12:1 would be best but little harder to tune with low octane fuel)

Buy a good set of (forged) pistons or shave your head Wink
(just 0.8mm head gasket + AE92 pistons would be not enough)

BTW many late AE86 (made in 86/87) in europe have 7rib engine but internally they are just like bluetop (40/18mm).
You should look before buying anything.

Cam gears -> not really necessary with poncam (since they are made to be straight fit) but always good to have them.

true Smile
you either choose to get more engine updates or you choose for the rollcage and DIV 1.I picked the second one because i wanted the rollcage and want to drive some rally's at some point.

agreedSmile

noted, didnt knew about the fuel pressure regulator and i dont know alot about it,will check it out.

I was planning on letting the head getting shaved+0.8 mm+ae92 pistons.
Would that be enough then?

Hm didnt knew that, but the letters are red and black

Would be pretty silly to paint the covers red and black if they were blue

true, and they don't cost that much.

thanks for the infoSmile

orion engineered motorwerks have rods to suit the small crank (40) and big pistons (20) Wink

If he don't want to use forged pistons I doubt he will add forged conrods on his setup ^^

Yes but you will have to shave almost 1mm (around 0.7/0.9mm)
It will depend how far you deshroud the combustion chamber

Correct,i would rather not use forged pistons and conrodsSmile

1mm thats pretty extreme or not?

hm thats confusing
so a late european 7Rib 4AGE with red and black letters could very well be blue 40 18 on the inside?:s
And here i thought he did an engine swap, but now it makes more sense
That would be quite the shocker since i didnt knew those excisted.

Anyway to confirm this?

My 86 has a 7rib block with 40/18 inside..
10:1 compression.. if you shave about 1mm the CR goes to 11:1 with oem gasket (1.2mm).

Please be careful when shaving heads.
Someone must have a measurable dimension for a stock head apart from the chamber volume.
Any ideas ?
