Dedicated UK forum?
Not wanting to take anything away from AEU86.Org but I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be a good idea to start a UK based AE86 forum?
It would give a gathering point for UK based AE86 owners and also mean we might be able to get a few meets, track days etc going on and get a proper owners club going where we we can hold hands, sing and shit. Its just seems that many owners are spread all over the shop - some on driftworks, some on here, some on Club4ag etc. Views? Cheers James |

I dont think its too good an idea... As there arent enough UK owners to make a forum worth while. Even catering for all of europe it can be a bit quiet here!

I think there are more UK based owners than your making out, the issue is they are scattered. Quite a few on Driftworks rarley visit this site which indicates possibly that they would prefer a more UK focussed forum?

Dont think it would be worth it, in a years time when ae86s are out of fashion and all the assholes piss off, then id be very interested in a UK based 86 club, till then.
There are some serious 86 enthusiasts out there (@ it for years) who refuse to use forums, personnally I like em but I cant blame em either. Rant for the day over Initial D must die An 86 is for Life, not just for Christmas |

I cant be completely impartial offcourse, but I doubt it would do much good. For such a small community the people are already spread out a lot if you ask me. I think that at the moment everybody should be able to find his/her favorite spot on the web with the existing offering of forums.
This forum got off the ground because we all felt that we needed our own european "home" on the web. Most of us came from club4ag, which is nice but a bit focussed on the US and has a lot of Initial D fanboys diluting the site. I think the main reason that many english hachi owners hang around driftworks more is that they are in it for the drifting. We're more of an all-round forum. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

That's why I didn't react in the first place. Next to that: knowing how much work this place already cost me (and the others ofcourse!) I wonder if you'd want to go through all the trouble. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

If there would be a UK targetted forum you will have people spread over on here, driftworks, club4ag and the local forum... Still that doesn't make it a bad thing by default. There are a large percentage of UK owners compared to EU owners, and especially if you want to start some sort of UK club that has something extra to offer, a club forum can be a good addition. In the end though, you have to ask yourself. What extra do you have to offer other then trying to unite the UK owners, and wonder if a forum is the right medium to do so. The whole reason me and Banpei started an EU forum was simply because an NL audience seemed way to small to have a forum that would sustain any interesting volume of posts. And look at us now, we're even drawing in people from asia and australia, seems it was a good choice.. Anyways, in the end, I have to put myself in line with Ivan and Banpei, as an admin I am far from impartial We'd like to see this forum grow, we'd like hachi owners in the world to come together (and we dont limit ourselves to EU anymore in that sence). Seeing this relatively small community fall appart into even smaller more local communities is not the ideal we are aiming for, we're not honda owners where azillion owners joining up on a local forum, we're hachi owners, and hachi owners are a rare breed Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |
