Absolutely true! Respect!
Also please read this before you judge. Tongue

If I am not mistaken that Roman is the same Roman as the owner of the AA60 in our Carina topic. Tongue

Ahaha, yep that was me.

Argument seemed to be going around in circles, so thought a flowchart might cut out a few pages worth of arguments.

Apparently not though! Smile

LOL! Big Grin
JT also kept going in circles: he kept saying the Piazza is the best car on the globe and kept following the no-no path in your flowchart. Big Grin

Yes it is the weight, but not only. I don't know other manufacturer who ever made such a living, responding and revving engine, you find in the RWD Corolla.
It is the engine, with some sheet metal around that makes it.
My opinion, after I am trying now desperately to come at least close to a hachi with my other toy - MX5 NA. The 318is is by far not even close to AE86...
I am really out of ideas, who ever made something at least close to the AE86.

Funny..I think the 4AGE in stock trim really lets the AE86 down..high redline, but no rush to redline..would have much preffered the CRX D-series engine that just gets better and better as you approach the revlimit. 4AGE is a bit dull in comparison. I "think" that a mild cam in an otherwise stock 4AGE would really wake it up and improve the driving experience tenfold.

MX5 1.6 is just as bad, but has more lowrange torque then 4AGE, making for a little more fun ride in daily life/traffic. Engine lets you down when revved to its limit, but grip levels compensate a lot (i've seen up to 1.5G in a mildly modded MX5).

318is is to heavy in comparison..maybe a 320is would be better, but I have heard a forum member that owned one also complain about dull engine reactions..weird.

I used to have a 318is before my Levin and had a lot of fun with it. Its not anything special, but I cant think of any better cheap begginers car here in Europe. Repair costs are way lower then with the 86 and thats one of the most important things that matter with your first car.
