Front End Brake Work

Took my AE86 too a local mechanic, they told me it would be $800 to do the work. I figured I might as well do it myself as I could get the parts for around $200.

Needs:
Calipers
Pads
Rotors

I've never done this before, can you guys give me help on what I should do.

88rotors.com for the disks & pads, take off you calipers & get them re-conditioned, kits are available from Toyota if you fancy a go, but Id leave it to someone with experience if you are a novice.

Re-Conditioned?

I was talking with a parts store earlier and they said they could give me 2 Calipers for $90. However the garage I went to said they were going to re-condition the ones I had for $80 a peice.

Somehow the diference in price doesnt sound right to me.

Any Ideas?

For $90 see what happens, hard to figure that price out.

What kind of Tools do you need to change the parts to begin with?

I would assume a Socket set but a friend mentioned some cars require a special socket, is this the case with the AE86.

Socket set & spanners, G Clamp to replace the pads when you get the Calipers sorted.
