6 speed on 4age?
Hi guys,
I got offered an Altezza 6 speed gearbox. How hard is it to match this to a 4age 20V? Some things that I think are problematic: - Bell housing. - Gear lever is to far back - ? |

6 speed on 4age?
Aram,
Scroll a bit here: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/ae86/t/81...c/start=75 I did this, only i did this on my 4AGE 16v. Its not really hard if you have the RIGHT tools / knowledge... Housings - its pretty easy to get them together - you will just need to calculate everything, messure, messure, messure, messure - and CUT - then weld Clutch - i used 4AGE clutch - only thing what i got done - was drilled out the rivets that hold center of the clutch, and got it mashined to match the Altezza main shaft - then got one guy here who riveted everything back together with the right grate rivets Release bearing - i used T50 one - only thing that i did - was mashined inside of the sleve of the bearing (T50 has 33mm diameter - altezza 35mm) Fork - i used 4AGE one - nothing need to be modified on it - exept you will need to machine the knob wich turns into gearbox housing on wich fork holds - cuz altezza one has a bit bigger know then t50 one - but its an easy task If you need pics - i have LOTS of them from the Japanese guys (who originaly did the same thing like i did with the housing) so i can send you them... If you asked this like 2 days before - i could easily take messurments from my gearbox - but right now its already sitting in my car While installing this hybrid - you will need to either HAMMER alot of metal on the front of the firewall - or cut / weld it. Also - gear level will be super FAR - so you will need to cut / weld or other way shut the holes Ex-owner of JDM 83' Trueno Coupe DCw Classic, classic cars restoration, JDM wheels & parts import, sales. http://www.facebook.com/DogCustomWorks +37067170000 |

6 speed on 4age?
My colleague in Australia used an AZ6 from MX5 (much the same as Altezza but different ratios) He fitted a shorter RX8 extension housing to locate the gear lever in standard position. To mate to engine sandwich plate adapter and custom rear crossmember mount. As mentioned some modification to clutch assembly and clutch fork (There is also a thread on this topic on http://www.hachiroku.com.au/forums/ )

6 speed on 4age?
Here goes:
The original idea for this Hosing came from CBY guys in japan - if you scroll throu the blog - you will find some in progress pics and how it looks installed... One thing thought - then i installed my gearbox - i had tu cut out HUGE hole where my shifter sits now - cuz SXE10 gearbox is way taller in the shifter place - so to line up my gearbox atleast near 0' angle - i had to lift it up high... Will take pics of how it sits now... Heres the link to the blog (theres even more crazy / good ideas there ) http://blog.livedoor.jp/cb_yokohama/ Ex-owner of JDM 83' Trueno Coupe DCw Classic, classic cars restoration, JDM wheels & parts import, sales. http://www.facebook.com/DogCustomWorks +37067170000 |
