Lets put it this way. My friend has a 4AGZE, and he's scared to crank up the boost because of axles.

My friend has a tuned silvertop engine in his car, 178 hp and he broke about 5 zenki axles last year at driftraces. Maybe Jasper saw me at Mariapocs KOE under the car when I was changing the axle.. Smile
He changed the rear axle housing because it turned out he had 3degrees of negative camber (rally jumps.. Cool ) and now it seems like OK after 3 practise.

I've heard of using Hilux (2wd) rear axles which have larger drive shafts.
Josh Young in Australia, who runs a Lexus 4 litre V8 on ITB's in his drift AE86 (He won the Australian Drift Championship in 2006, running a turbo'd 4AGE) He seems to have no problem with this setup. He uses a Hilux gearbox too, if I rememebr correctly.

Best is not to use harsh clutch kits, but decent single plate dampened (Springs on the pressure plate) units, so that shock to the transaxle is reduced when kicking the clutch. My car's not broken any driveshafts ever and ithe engine s rated at 200 real bhp. It runs a Kouki rear axle with 4.7 final drive (Via TRD 1-3 box). I nbelieve it helps not to be too ham fisted when driving. Fast should also be smooth.. everything lasts longer that way. Thumbs up!

I thought all Hilux truck things were 4WD?

I'd guess within reason the original question is a slightly debatable point, as everyone drives differently, some are harsh and unsypathetic mechanically, others drive like they're dancing on egg shells...

I'd have said personally that someone who's a rough arse with their car would break them really easily for 'x' amount of torque. Undecided
