Gearbox and Diff options
Hey guys

Iv searched and come up with a few things on here but need more help.

I have the 85 coupe auto.

Now we only have 1 coupe in my country and 3 other hatches.

Now i would like to convert mine to manual and would like a lsd as well.

The car will be daily driven but would like to attend track events as well.
Now saying all of this a 86 drive train will seriously be out of the question to get here.

What are my other options considering we did have the toyota cressida and ke70 models as well.
we also do get the Nissan S13 here

Need something thats not going to be a full on frankenstein undertaking conversion to try do here.

Thanks in advance guys

Just buy a T50 Manual Tranny, get yourself a Driveshaft and lock it up with your rear axle.

As for LSD i would buy from Japan something like a Cusco unit or a TRD one... ANd voila... rear axle ready for action.....

In the middle of this process there are some little bits that are far superior than the OEM ones..... For example Weir performance solid spacer (instead the OEM one)

All fair and we'll to say just get a t50 tranny, but what cars did they come in?

And I'm not going to ship a huge tranny from overseas

T50 can be found in AE71/86 Tongue

Other transmissions wich can be considered with the right adapter:

W58 (Celica Supra )
Asisin AZ6/J160 (Miata 6speed/S14/IS200/RX8 )

In the end all of the obove mentioned options are expensive and will you cost alot apart from a local found T50.

Daily Beater: Civic EG5
Work in progress Car: AE86

The T50 also came with the Celica and Carina T1x/T2x/T4x and the Corona T140. They are not as strong as the AE86 box though, and some of them have a different number of splines for the rear propshaft. The only thing you need is the bellhousing, which is different than the 2T bellhousings.
