As far as i know the engine is a gZe to turbo conversion.

Small update:
The bushings and brakelines are now on the car and the difference is immense. Especially the difference in handling and response to directional changes is chaotic. I assume that only a full suspension upgrade would make a bigger difference. Also, I dynoed the car about a month ago and here's the graph. |

I went to the Megara circuit yesterday afternoon. My aim was to attempt time attacks for a change (I always try to drift there). The first lap was a dream the car felt good and I was getting excited. But then...
I regret to announce that 4000kms after my full gearbox rebuild, the gearbox might need to be replaced. Reasons (after 1 lap at 70%): 1. 4th gear refuses to stay engaged. Pops out as soon as I step on the gas. 2. Excesive clutch slip in second and third. I had this before and I'm almost certain its gearbox oil leaking onto the clutch plate. 3. Gerbox oil leaks on the ground. As a result I have come to the following conclusions: 1. Gearbox was badly rebuilt or/and badly fitted or/and excesivelly worn by T3 short-shift. 2. I have 300 Euro in the bank, so I can either park the car and wait, or sell the damn thing and get on with life. If I keep it, I will have to choose between rebuilding the current box (cost me 500 euro last time) or buy a used box (costs between 250 and 300 euros). I must say that having spent nearly 8.000 Euro on the car so far (incl. purchase), without enjoying it and naturally I feel very dissapointed. Actually, I am shure the next mechanic will do an even worse job on the car. |

Are there some warranties from the mechanic ?
I sold rebuilt gearbox for 100EU one year ago. Why the prices are so high - 400EU is the price for whole donor car ! |

@Jamie: Man, I honestly think it would be much cheaper to bring the car to BUL once every six months for meintenance. The situation with mechanics over here really takes the piss. The get paid like doctors.

The quality of services here is terrible Instead you can find some good mechanics. But you also must give them at least 2-3 days - if you have all needed spares (don't forget that AE86 is rare car here and you just cannot buy some specific spares - must purchase them and wait 1-4 weeks for delivery). |

OK I get it. Man, it gets worse. I found this add in a Greek forum (translation by me):
BMW M3 E36 3.0lt motor (US spec) Race-prepared (suspension, cams, CPU, racing headers, full racing exhaust, racing brakes, etc...) 13,6 secs for 400m Laps the Megara cicuit in 1:08:280 (the Saxo S1600 does it in...1:10:00) Price: 8000 euro (because it has foreign plates and it's a big hassle to get Greek plates for it.) So, you can see why I'm upset... |
