You are absolutely right on that one. Wink

Well yes and no. Sure loads of people who are into cars know the 86, but in Holland it still is a fairly unknown car. It wont be for long through as drifting is also here gaining more popularity.
You will know when that time has come when a rusty old coupe costs you 4000 euroSmile

Congrats on the comp win.

Bad luck on the clutch.

What's stopping you getting another one? Helix can do you a nice cerrametallic 4-puck comp clutch...

Hello European AE86 family
Well, depends what's up with yours...

If you've just burned out all the friction material, you could send it off to the manufacturer to get the plate re-lined for pretty cheap (~£50 over here I think).

If you need a completely new kit:

Helix organic or cerrametallic clutch kits run around £300 + VAT complete with stiffer cover, plate and release bearing.

I've got a 4-puck Helix cerrametallic (212mm flywheel) kit, that was £325 + VAT. It bites like a bitch-whore from hell and doesn't know the meaning of slip. Still going fine after about 18 months drifting (though not too much abuse).

Standard blue-top flywheels are 200mm and so suitable clutches are slightly cheaper. Worth putting a late small port red-top flywheel in as it'a a bit lighter and more friction surface (212mm) or even better one from an AE111.

Try http://www.helix-autosport.com

Hope this helps.

Hello European AE86 family
Peter,

Yeah MA61 wheels are OK for cheap, but a serious AE86 deserves something a bit deeper... I've got some 15x8 split rims I got for cheap that should suit the AE86. I'll have to work out the offset when I get them to hand, and the holes will need re-drilling for 114.3 PCD. The rim bolts also need replacing, the centres need painting and the lips need polishing...

Errr the scoop thing is a piece of random ducting hose found in a skip. It hangs under my front ARB and snakes up to the throttles to supply them with a little cooler air. Probably doesn't do too much, but certainly doesn't do any harm. Seems to freak a lot of people out that one...
