Help What is this part?
I believe that is a vaccum tube for the brake booster.

Help What is this part?
The hose on top is the vacuum supply for the brakebooster.
But there is no way, this could leak coolant. Never seen the thing beneath it. Whats conneted to it? I can see 1 water hose, but much more... Dude, thats a blurry pic 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

Not much if anything that can leak in that area except something for the heater, its valve, or windscreen washer stuff.
So what! |

It is remotely possible that if your booster is deteriorating internally, that brake fluid could get in there. In this case, you may notice that you are blowing white smoke if it gets through into the inlet manifold.

Help What is this part?
Hi thanks for the replies, I have uploaded a better photo as there was some confusion as to what is actually leaking. It is the disk shape object, in this pic you can see the coolant leaking from it. It appears to be a diaphragm valve with 1 or 2 temperature control switches attached to it. It seems it has an inlet and a outlet which goes into the cabin.
I hope this additional information helps! If need be I can take more photos Thanks. |

Help What is this part?
TBH I´ve never seen that thing in an AE86. Does it have a partnumber on it?
Does your car have aircon, or had in the past? 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

Help What is this part?
Yer my car did have air con in the past!
I done some digging around and looked at tonnes of engine bay pics and seem to have noticed that the american cars don't seem to have it! I found an old thread somewhere, were someone said that it is a valve where the water enters it, if hot the valve opens and allows the hot air into the cabin to allow the heater to blow hot air. So I would assume its some sort of heater control valve! I'll try my Toyota dealership this weekend and hopefully they will be able to get one shipped in! Any more information would still be appreciated! |

Usually the heater valve sits there, but like I said, never seen one like yours before...
Irc the last generation Corollas with aircon had a electric control panel without the pull and push cables used to be on the older heater boxes. Toyota is going to rip you off, mate! Don´t buy it genuine Toyota unless you really need to, remove it and put in a 90° joiner. 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |
