Hi from NZ
I've 'borrowed' so much useful info off this site I thought I better join! I live in Wellington NZ. Over the years I've had three AE86s and one AE85 for good measure.

Currently have the worlds biggest moneypit, an October 1983 JDM Sprinter Trueno GT Apex (first of the best Smile zenki AE86. It had a full bare metal rebuild inside and out in 2005 which included every nut and bolt being replaced. at the time it was dressed up with the 'wide and low racer / bodykit look' but now has a fresh JDM factory finish. It looks dead stock from the outside (you'd swear it was 1983 again!) but runs a 490rwhp worked 1UZ fed by a 1950cfm S/C ...with a dry weight of 980kg its one mean sleeper

Hi from NZ
Welcome! Clean looking trueno you've got there..
How did you manage to keep curb weight under 1000kg's with that lump? Huh

The wheels are letting the car down though...some oldscool rims with a bit of lip would really make it shine.

Hi from NZ
kerb weight was never a biggie as the 1UZ only weighs about 20ish kgs more than the 4age! I worked out the whole drivetrain change added only 40kgs. To keep the car ballanced the engne is mounted back 10cm. Weight is also kept off with a full fiberglass front end (you'd never know), no under carpet sound deadening and no un-necessary wires / nuts / bolts / brackets...

Thanks for the tips on the wheels, it used to have a full URAS bodykit and 15 X 8 superlites, I still have the wheels but thought they were a bit too 'tough' for the stock look Smile

Hi from NZ
Tip of the hat to whoever did the seat upholstery, those are THE best looking leather wrapped seats I have seen to date.

Hi from NZ
Damn! I agree with Ivan: those seats are the best I saw so far! Thumbs up!
The V8 is a bit tight in there... Where is the washer fluid relocated? Or you don't have it anymore? Dumb question
(same goes for the excessive cooling fluid. Wink )

Hi from NZ
I have seen pictures of this kind of seat redone somewhere from down under country. They can redone them very good. I am really impressed!
I am plan to do mine also but not in leather I think.
