Hi from Texas
no. To be open about it, I dont know anything about these cars. I dont even no what that parts for... I know that makes me look like I dont belong around a car but Iv never had a car like this. Iv always had hondas. I know a honda from the inside out. And its just going to take some time to learn more about my loved car...

So Prothane, Clevite 77 or ACL Racing for bearings, OEM for gaskets etc will be top of your list now. Make sure that your chassis is rust-free first. These repairs are expensive so ot's better to prevent damage instead of repair. First check engine compression, refresh the engine (all gaskets/bearings, pistons and rings are optional), do some head works/valve job. Change all filters, all fluids including coolant, engine oil, tranny oil (use GL-4 75W90 or 80W90 spec instead of GL-5 ones), diff oil (GL-5 75W90, LSD if you have LSD in it), brake fluid, if you have power steering - ATF fluid in it. At this point you can drive the car without risk to break something due to maintenance. Change all suspension rubbers, check the egnine and tranny mounts, check the suspension (springs and shocks). Maybe its worth to use Prothane polyurethane bushes, aftermarket springs and shocks. Check brake discs/pads/calipers, use good tires (185-195/14-15"). At this point you will know what kind of beast AE86 is. Choose good header, tune ignition advance a little - then make all you-prefer-mods in interior/exterior, aero parts etc. and I'm sure you will love the car for a long time All other suspension/engine/brake/chassis upgrades are optional, most of them are just fancy so it's better to read/discuss a lot before spend your money for them. All this writing reflects my personal vision about AE86. |
