ha!
the skirts are not fixed onto the car yet. I just used the rollcage padding to hold them in place. Fitting is as standard with 2 bolts at either end. The run free skirts don't bolt up under the car like the std ones though - some small holes will need to be made in the door shuts for the tops of them. Yeah - I wish I could be doing something more significant right now too. ![]() Regards Ian. ![]() |

haha you're right! I didn't mentioned the rollcage paddings on that picture.
Do you think you can mount the sideskirts without seeing the bolts underneath the doors? With my current sideskirt you can see them when I have my doors closed. I hate the look of it! Don't you think you can glue it or something? Great vid!! 5/2018 BMW F22 Coupe 1/1985 Toyota AE86 Levin Coupe |

Few updates...
1. the exhaust manifold came - still waiting for the back part but not too much of a hurry - couple of weeks all being well. ![]() ![]() ![]() I also got an old used manual steering rack from Gunt as a swapsie for my current power rack (no use with the exhaust and not really required). It was a bit of a mess so it took a few hours to clean off 20+ years of grease grime and rust. I had some parts to refurb it * new gaitors * new clips * new top rubber * new claw washers to locate the inner knuckles * nagisa auto over angle inner steering knuckles * t3 solid rack bushing ![]() ![]() when I fitted the over angle knuckles I realised I didnt need the new claw washers - oops! ![]() ![]() Hopefully I will have some fabrication done soon. Your car will be sweeeet.
Wonder how that pulls off the line. That engine will sound crazy with the itb's. Will you leave the rear axle as is? or switch it or beef it up? speed-inc. I'll keep on the std axle for now and see what happens - I know several people with the F20 installed and their axle is fine.
I've done a load more to the car so here goes. steering rack fully refurbed and cleaned up - Nagisa auto inner over angle tie rods in place, brand new gaitors, clips etc. It was a proper rusty shitty mess before I started (shame I have no before photos) ![]() ![]() Steering rack is now manual and NOT PS. Had to switch and re-mate the column ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() more new parts ordered/arrived Nagisa Professional Rosejointed 4-link kit ![]() (still waiting - they sent the std kit by mistake - doh!) Nagisa Rosejointed tension control arms ![]() Nagisa Re-enforced lateral rod ![]() New Superflex drop link bushes ![]() Most of the new front suspension parts are now fitted to the car. Have to still do the tension rods as they hadn't arrived until yesterday. Still waiting for some new front ARB drop links so I can re-fit those. ![]() poor big hole ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() myself and a good friend have been working until the early hours of the morning to get things done - it feels great to be 'adding' to the car instead of just stripping it down for a change. Now have some good steering lock ![]() ![]() ![]() So thats it for now. However, the car goes away again on the 23rd of august to have some serious shell modifications carried out: 1. Fabricated Cross member 2. Fabricated Engine/gearbox mounts 3. New transmission tunnel 4. New propshaft. 5. Box section rear suspension turrets (coilvers when my HTS die in the future) 6. Stitch welding to chassis rails, front suspension turrets, inner wings 7. New weld in roll cage and non sunroof roof skin 8. Steering column modifications to add length taking into account the cross member has dropped 2" phew - a LOT of work and a lot of money (I could have just gotten me a mint condition corolla from Japan) but I just know it will be worth every penny. Also done a little work on the F20 engine too such as replacing the Waterpump, sorting out a few missing ancillaries etc. cant wait til it comes back and then the final build and re-fit can start. A long running project but hopefully hopefully by the end of the year it may even start LOL. Regards Ian. ![]() |

hehehe,
from the looks of Mr Robo's project you guys have been very busy too. ![]() as for the engine bay - once all the fab work is finished it will get a light brush of paint. It wont be perfect though - just enough to stop any rust from rooting in the future. All the seam sealer has to come of the rails and turrets before they do the stitch welding so not a lot of point.
