Image of rear lower arch needed
Currently fabricating body parts for an Ae86 as most of you know they are no longer available
The section I need reference to is from a late model 86 with plastic arch trims Could one of you nice folk provide a picture of an original lower arch in the same location as the following photo. I'm trying to see what an original looks like so I can establish if and where the recess line stops. It's no use me looking at the other side of the car as that's gone too Thanks for any assistance Here's where I've got to at present |

Many thanks
So does the swage line originally finish about 1" below the securing hole for the trim?..... Somewhere around the point the side skirt begins or has the person (in the image you've provided) changed/altered/filled the remainder of the profile? If I can get this correct I may start making bits for other folk who want arch edge repairs and want to retain standard trims..... Just a thought Cheers |

Thanks Bean
I have seen them previously but thought they were to fit the non arch trim model. If they are for all years/models then it appears the swage line stops at the top of the triangular end section of the side skirt I've actually bought mk3 escort front wings for the arches as many recommendations on various forums but the rusted area on this car is only arch edge ... Which still doesn't sort out the swage line needed or confirm where it stops |

Finally I fully understand what you're looking for. I would need to dig up a decent picture at home. Anyway the trim piece only goes upto the fold and the lower part is without recess. This was to keep the same fender without alterations regardless if the car had factory sideskirts or not.
Hope this helps. AE86 ex-daily |

Thanks for the help folks. I'll test fit the side skirts to establish how far up it covers. I believe it'll end around the natural panel line that follows through the lower edge of the door. Once sorted I can then fade out the recess for the arch trim at that line if you get my meaning.... instead of continuing the arch recess down as far as the top of the sill
If anyone needs small sections of the arch edge making, give me a shout as I've now made rollers to be able to reproduce the small swage line for the trim using my swager |

best picture I could find that shows everything sort off.
click for bigger version you can see the line on the panel behind the door and where the recess ends. With all the work you apparently have already invested, do me one favour and seal the crap out of it once done. In my opinion it was a big mistake from Toyota to fit that trim piece. It's one (or rather 4) big rust magnets they added to the Kouki facelift version. AE86 ex-daily |
