Imported AE86 Trueno, Hi From Scotland (pics)
Hey all, first post. I'm from Scotland and I have just aquired my first AE86. Was imported from Japan in January and I bought it last month and picked it up on the 1st, you may have seen it on ebay. Extremely happy with it overall, a few minor things to fix up but nothing major, is a very clean car and sounds awesome ran from the middle of England to Scotland in one go with no problems at all. Anyone know anything about "Urata Racing & Rally Service" going by the stickers they appear to be the company that maintained the car in Japan but I can't find any info on them.

First problem I'm having is insurance, can't seem to find anywhere that'll do me a good deal, the problem is mainly my age (20, 21 in June) and the value of the car. They just don't seem to accept how valuable these cars are getting, so any advice on places to try or tips would be greatly appreciated. Anyway, on with the pics:

Thanks, I'm totally in love with it already, spent about 2 hours in the boot today bolting on plastic panels that were falling off, that sorted the rattling. Need to upgrade the speakers as the stereo sound is aweful, might swap out the head unit as I have no need for minidisc although it seems to be a rare kenwood one sold only in japan.

Heh we'll see  Project D version of course. Can't wait till the movie comes out, need to find a cinema willing to pay me loads of money to sit out front for a day. A 1/18 Jada model will do for now. Almost completely out of cash after buying her anyway.

How much did she set you back?

EDIT: As for insurance, you may have to wait until June mate. For an import no one would insure me before the age of 21 myself. My UK model has cost me £1300 TPFT from the age of 20 with no NCBs. I'm now 21 with a years NCB and can afford an import. You may get lucky with confused.com though.

She was £5099 after a bidding war with 1 guy (if you are here no hard feelings i outbid you Big Grin ) reserve was £4100 though but the battle occurred in the last 30 secs which took it to the final price. Still consider it a good deal, I mean the car is pretty much flawless, been well looked after and they are only going up in value.

Yeh I'm gonna keep checking around for quotes the now, might find something, but its not too long to wait till 21 i guess.

Thanks all.

I would say if you're looking at getting insured at 21 with no NCB's then expect to pay close to £1500.

Yeh, it's kinda looking that way, apparently i'm a higher risk because of my age, I consider that quite unfair. But I guess thats just how everything is.
