Oh dear !
and a warning to others !
I am just in the process of fitting a different gearbox to my '86 and while having a general look around the engine bay I noticed something a little strange with one of the strut towers. Upon closer inspection I found that most of the spot welds at the bottom of the tower where it joins the chassis rail had come apart and there is now a 5mm gap along the bottom and 30mm up one side There is no rust so I can only put it down to having solid top mounts, Bilsteins, fairly stiff (300lb) springs and of course stupidly, no seam welding. So it's gearbox and engine out to sort it. My main issue is the fuel line, can anyone tell me how to move / remove the solid fuel line that goes to the filter from the pump ?
