Juicebox reveals how many AE86s were produced

I'm sorry to revive this, but I was looking at the production numbers on that Russian website with the WayBackMachine and found something weird for the AE85. I wanted to see, how many of them were built when I saw a discrepency.

As far as I know, the numbers are the last produced chassis numbers each month and 1982-12 produced the AE85-5000022 as the last car, but 1983-03 produced the AE85-5000008. Why the step back?

Is there an error in the table?

It's an interesting question... We're not a 100% sure how these numbers are to be interpreted, but they are sourced from the data files of the EPC. We know these numbers are the last framenumber in a specific month and hence we would expect them to be sequential. I have no explanation for why it is this way, but it could also be an error in the data interpretation. I see a similar error in the TA63 and AA63 where one car was manufactured in december 1988 when these cars were more than 3 years out of production.

With some pure spectulation: it could also be the case that there were a bunch of pre-production cars that were used to set up the assembly line in the factory. Toyota uses a system since the 1970s to have multiple cars produced on the same production line, so it wouldn't be out of this world to see something like this. We could verify this by starting the EPC and query for that frame number. Unfortunately my EPC installation is broken at the moment, so I would need some time to fix that first.
