Just got my first AE86
Hello all, I just picked up my first AE86. It's a 1984 sr5 and I love it! I'm wanting some advise/help on fixing a few things. The front fenders need fixed or replaced from rust on the bottom near the door. The rockers also need fixed for the rust. Luckily it's all just the sheet metal. I'm wanting to get some coilovers for it I've been looking at the power by max ones and didn't know if anyone has them and what you think about them. I'd like to get a little more power out of the bone stock 4ac in it do ideas for that would be great.
Thanks for any ideas |

I myself have a complete D2 coilover set but those are pretty mean and stiff - as they are for racing/drifting.
Wheel bolt pattern is 4 x 114,3 and your shifter is M12x1,25 I bought a new shiftknob yesterday lol. And ofcourse CONGRATS on your first AE86 -DWG- Drift Wolf Gaming |

I've had d2s on another car and loved them but I didn't know how they are for the AE86s if they have a good ride but still stiff for sliding etc.
Thanks for the bolt pattern. My wheels now are ugly as f*ck. |

Not sure whether you are an experienced AE86 owner with a lot of cars under your belt but anyhows my humble .5 €`s based solely on what you wrote and please take with a small dose of salt and healthy mindset:
You might wanna focus on the rust, not to scare you off or anything but by thumb-rule most of the rust you see right now is usually 10x worse under the paint surface, and depending on the road-salt and air humidity conditions where you live, it has more than a potential to get exponentionally worse, fast! It`s an SR5 so probably still has the 4AC engine? Instead of blowing 400-500-600 on 10 meter wide repo wheels that derps the driving comfort and furthermore adds traction (Which in most cases stops any wanted wheelspin), use your money where they matter! For power upgrade the 4AGE engine is pretty much a given for the cars we drive, I have the impression you are slightly on a budget right now so if you want a bit more power you can go with the 4AGE Bluetop 3-rib (Which the Corolla GTS came with originally) Should give you some fun as is, optionally you can slam in some cams, alternatively good pistons and a blueprint job+ a bit of headwork for an additional jump in power. As for suspension, never mind that right now, OEM still works for the street, doesnt kill your back, and since winter is coming up, will make weight transfer sliding techniques a lot of fun even with your open diff! Focus on rust repair first and just having fun this winter and save up some money. Read up on and gather up engine+parts and suspension+LSD rear, not to mention the tools that you might need, build a performance machine come spring when you are set with all the goodies Project builds in cold sheds @ winter = not recommended! Instead get the rust properly repaired and use the car as is to get the parts you need, with style! And have some fun in between Again, this is based on low budget etc. 1x AE86 84` Zenki Coupè Levin 4A-GE 20v 1x AE86 83' Zenki Coupe Levin 4A-GE 16v 1x TA60 82' Sedan 2T 8V 1x TA40 78` MK1 Zenk/Pre-Facelift Wagon 4A-GE 16v |
