KONI Sports shocks for the AE86...

i am wearing kayabe excel shock but they are fixed not only inserts. Can i buy koni yellow and fit them in? thank you (ae92 corolla gti hatch)

Bringing this back from the dead for the benefit of anyone else who is
trying to decide what shocks and springs would work on their car. For
the record, I had the classic KYB AGX SW11/camaro combo on my car
for a while. Used them with Espelir blue 3.0/2.8kg/mm lowering springs
and the ride was much like stock.

For a daily driver this combo would be fine, but the spring rates were
too soft when pushing hard on twisty back roads, and the shocks were
"bouncy" on anything more that the softest setting.

So I decided to up the spring rate and use Koni adjustables all round.
Front: Koni 8641-1146SPORT inserts for an AE92 (discontinued)
Rear: Koni 8041-1186SPORT Mustang rear shocks
Springs: RS*R 5.2/4.4kg/mm linear type.

Much to my surprise, this combo feels just as comfortable as the AGX
plus Espelir combo. The car movement is better controlled and the Koni's
soak up bumps without any harsh feedback. When I installed the shocks
I set the adjustment at half and haven't felt the need to change it for
spirited driving over my bumpy local test loop.

They may not be "drift spec", but for real world driving Koni's would be
hard to beat. Some more info in this thread...
