I have heard NOTHING but bad things about them At least it didn't damage your flywheel Comp Clutch seem to get really good reviews |

The new adapter is steel so if something is going to break it will probably be the aluminum. If i remove the lower pan I'm going to re-thread it to 1/8 NPT. But the hose is not a bad idea! I like it. Only bad thing (except it breaking) is that the reverse lock out is too weak so it's easy to get hung up when going from 3rd to 2nd mid drift. My "new" gearbox is from a IS200, just need to swap the front parts over. Yes for the new clutch I'm going to go for a proper brand. Most likely Exedy. Don't have time to hassle with inferior parts, esp. since we just bought a house . |

The risk of breaking is not due to the material you use, it's due to the amount of weight hanging out pretty far, under constant vibration.
Some kind of flexible coupling would be wise. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Changed out the China spec "bushings" (Brass pipe cut to length) to proper oil bronze ones on the notcher, huge improvement! Started fitting in the cage. Really pleased with the fitment on the "bent" pipes. But thin brass with much weight is worse then thicker steel with less weight . I'm probably going to re thread the hole, didn't want to take off the pan. I'm not worried that it's not flexible, the beams has a oil pressure there OEM. |

Bought some new rims. Fits quite well, size is 15x9 -13 and the tyre is 195/50 so sue me for the stretch Some more work done on the cage. Takes some time when you haven't done it before but I'm starting to get the hang of it now. Don't have any pictures of it but the front hoops are welded to the main hoop now also. Slowly getting there! |

The cage is slowly getting along, really hoping to have it completely finished before the end of January Then I'll see how much I can get done with the time (or lack there of) I have. Would like to paint it and do a whole new body loom plus add some bits and bobs to the Link ECU. |

Thanks ArToAE86!
My plan to get the cage done in January didn't go as planed. Had a bunch of other stuff to do, mostly with our 8h endurance race scrapcar. This year our choice fell on a dirty Datsun Primera GT. Knocked out a half cage in that. But on to the AE86. Had to make a interesting notch for the diagonal in the main hoop. This was done manually without the notcher as there were too many angles involved. But I got it to fit. Sorry that my welds are not "Instagram-showoff-pretty" lol. And here is were I'm at with the cage right now. Need to mock up the seat to see if can go with straight doorbars or if I have to use Nascar doors. |

Hello people!
This project has been on the slow burner for quite some time now. Much has happened, did the whole junkyard endurance racing, started building a garage at our house and now we're expecting our first child any day now Imageshack wouldn't let me upload all the pics for some reason so these will have to do. First of is the Datsun in 3 of 4 themes: Lego, Zombie and WRC. Missing is "Maffia". Was a really good car and got us to a 2nd place in the cup out of 30ish cars . But back to the 'ol 'rolla! Had to do a recess in the floor so I could sit in the car with the cage in it. Came out ok, did do the job atleast. Did settle on Nascar doors finally and I'm glad that I did. Won't notice the doorbars at all . Not pictured is my seat mount which I spent a stupid amount of time on. So now the rear of the seat is less then 1cm from the floor . Also not pictured is the rebuild of my gearbox. Sourced a IS200 box and swapped internals. Also got me a Exedy stage 2 clutch to replace the PS XTD one. Lots of things to do still... Will upload more pics when Imageshack lets me do so. |
