Well, I've had a go, went up to Buxton Raceway this afternoon, paid my tenner and then got my drivers briefing (was just me in the briefing). Main point of that was to tell me not to ever lift off but keep my foot in if I'm going to spin as otherwise it'll be head first into the concrete wall.

Okay, so there I am lined up ever so slightly terrified. There were loads of cars there with scars to prove how unforgiving the wall can be and believe me it wrecks your car.

So I had a tentative first outing, then got a ride with one of the regulars who was just stunning. Made me feel like a complete novice (which I am really when it comes to drifting). Still I listened and learned and then ventured out a fair few more times and started to increase my speed and play around with the car a bit more. I also remembered to turn up the rear dampers, to 6/8. That all helped and I had a really good afternoon.

Am thinking of doing a day at Oulton on 8th July (as I'm off anyway) and there is a lot more room, so hopefully Mark can have a go.

Must change those bloody JDF tyres though, as coming up the Cat and Fiddle in the rain, the car was just absolutely lethal.

Still I survived and decided against going out for the fatal run at the track. Great stuff, reckon I could have some fun with this drifting lark.

Bit of a tentative drift, but a steel ring with 3 feet of concrete to the left tended to make me err on the side of caution.

Saw a fair few people hit the wall today and it's not very forgiving.

I know, trouble was the car came with ancient JDM tyres on it that had about 5-6mm of tread, so I thought I'd just use them up as I was spending loads out on the car (still am!).

I've managed to reduce the tread depth to about 2-3 mm now, so getting there. Wink Managed a trackday, 5000km and a drift day and there is still tread left! Will be getting changed for soon for sure, then I'll use those tyres for a bit of drifting I think.

Good on ya. Have you seen the new pink rota cherry plossums. I recon your car would look unreal with them. If you like pink that is??

I have noticed those and yes, I do quite like them. Smile

8" may be a bit wide for stock arches though.

It's been a productive weekend, though I didn't take any pics as it wasn't that exciting bearding wise.

Still, I have put new Toyota auxillary drive belts which was no sweat really, also changed the thermostat, flushed the system and refilled with Longlife. Was dead easy to bleed (ie not much to do) compared to the MR2 and only took about 4 litres if that.

Also in related news, I found where I can buy some decals for the car as a few people kindly pointed me in the direction of the AEU86.org shop. I only ordered the rear ones, but it turns out that I made the 100th webshop order so one of the admins (thanks, Art) emailed me to offer me another sticker free of charge. So, I ordered the side Trueno stickers, so now I have a complete set! Should be able to get these on in time for JAE. Smile

Thanks AEU86.org! Smile

Just have the foglight switch to fit and the new steering gaiter which will take a bit longer I expect!

Finally got the car on the rollers at TDI North, yesterday.

Ran both ECU's. The modified one was found to be massively over-fueling, the stock one was fine.

Peak power on both ECUs was 132.1bhp. The guy at the RR said that the AFR was something akin to what he'd expect a Skyline to be on full boost(!).

Will upload the graph when I get it.

On the rollers with the techy guy being harassed by me and Mark standing on the other side:

It works! Smile

Any more info on that screen/gauge? Seems briliant!

He hasn't got a lot further with it, was only talking about that doay tbh! Think he needs to calibrate the pressure sender, that was the complicated bit, but hopefully I will have some news on this soon!
