MCNSPORT.com SuperTune N2 (The re-build)
Hi all,
We want to share this with you guys.. as you people love the AE86 as much as we do - ..and when it comes to AE86's, they don't come any better than the ultimate: AE86 N2 This is our N2... We started off building this for an event in 2007, we used it for a couple of events and then parked it up in the corner of the MCNSPORT shop. Now it's back........... We are going to use the MCNSPORT N2 in this year Irish ProDrift Championship with Darren "D-MAC" McNamara behind the wheel. This is how it started out: These picture were taken on tueday july 17, 2007 - We finished the car 11days later! We started off wit a ex N2 ae86 built by suzukijidosya in japan BHP: unknown Weight: 885kg Work began that evening and we tore the car apart and called it a nite at 5am. the car was quick but as wit all 4ages produced little torque so weight loss was top of our list and im proud to say we have produced the lightest ae86 ever (until the next 1) We welded in a new sheet of steel in the rear and modded the wheel arch where the fuel filler once was We removed the front panel for better air flow to the carbs We rewired all the dash and moved the gauges from the centre console to in front of the driver Rear fibreglass hatch: we removed the inner skin to save weight, the doors also got this treatment. in fact all panels on the car are fibreglass, we even moulded panels that we didnt already hav, bonnet, headlight covers, doors and rear hatch all in a 10 day period. lexan was used to replace the rear glass and side windows bhp: 160-170BHP weight: 710kg spec: Engine: IN304 EX288 high lift camshafts / TRD valve springs / TRD head gasket & head 0.5mm shaved / ported & polished / Light weight AE92 pistons / Light weight gudgeon pins / TRD rod bearing / TRD Crank bearing / Lightened flywheel 3.7kgs / TRD engine mount / TRD transmission mount / OBR45mm carburetors / full transistor distributor Transmission: D-speed metal clutch / Cusco lsd suspension: TRD shock absorbers / mcnsport springs / cusco top mounts / mcnsport inner tie rods / ueo outer tie rods / cusco rca's / TRD and powerflex bushes body: mcnsport fibreglass trueno front fenders (alo available for levin) / mcnsport fibreglass trueno bonnet / mcnsport fibreglass trueno headlight covers / mcnsport fibreglass doors / mcnsport fibreglass rear hatch / mcnsport fibreglass rear quarter / Origin front bumper / vertex style rear bumper and sideskirts / TRD rear wing / lexan glass wheels: work meister s1 That was then, this is now.... 2009, we have now spent a few days in between other projects on the MCNSPORT SuperTune N2 rebuild. On this new version we are going to be using a few new products: new TRD bearings mains and big ends new TRD headgasket New cam gears timing belt and tensioner Front: KW bump and rebound adjustable coilovers KW 8kg springs Tein camber tops T3 RCA's Power steering knuckles Nagisa auto (ueo style) front lower arms Nagisa auto (ueo style) outer tie rods Nagisa auto (ueo style) inner tie rods Tein tension rods Whiteline anti roll bar Black diamond disks Mintex pads Rear: TRD shortstroke adjustable shocks MCNSPORT 5kg springs Nagisa auto 4 link Sp-tec panhard rod First pair of MCNSPORT carbon doors Martelius R1 Exhaust manifold Martelius 2.5inch "MCNSPORT Special" stainless steel under axle exhaust system AE86 4AGE 20mm lower engine mounts 13x8 lighweight wheels MCNSPORT Carbon Dash Engine turned out to be in very good condition. Here's the head disassembled with various other bits including toda 304 and 288 cams. Pistons, Rods and Crank all inspected and are perfect so good news all round Chassis leg we pretty bent from a previous incident so we pulled it. Its 90% there will have it finished in the morn so more pics tomorrow. note some suspension parts fitted already pics of them tomorrow too Engine stripped and cleaned for painting: Front and rear suspension fitted: Gearbox cleaned and painted: Chassis leg straightened Stickers removed, this is how she sits at the moment FIRST START!!! Here's a video from Darren's phone, featuring our mechanic Stephen (his first time on the internet!). THE POOR NOISE IS DUE TO 4 OPEN PRIMARY PIPES, AS THE 2 into 1 SECTIONS HAVEN'T BEEN INSTALLED YET.. Peden & Darren - MCNSPORT.com |
