4AGE reliable seller?
"Boffin" on AE86irl bought a 16v 4AGE engine from SMR and it dropped a vale into the combustion chamber.
This was due to engine originally boiling in Japan as evidenced by OVAL bores. SMR did not refund him. I buy from Leekun in Malaysia. He rebuilds engines for you, runs them on the ground and sends you pictures of the rebuild along with a video of it running making good oil pressure etc. Expensive but trustworthy. Leekun has a LOT of experience building 4AGE/GZE/GTE and 7AGE hybrids. Everyone else just buys direct from Japan in bulk and hopes their engines are good! http://www.skynet.ie/~eireae86 |

4AGE reliable seller?
Quite few people have had bad experiences with SMR in the UK - keep seeing their name crop up on the IMOC as selling duffers.
I did notice though that Rogue Motorsport are currently selling rebuilt 4ages which were destined for the AW11 races cars they were runnign / supporting as back up engines. Nothing fancy just rebuilt to standard specifications, but a more reputable company. Think they wanted £500 for a rebuilt 4age http://www.eight-six.co.uk - read the blog! What do they mean by rebuilt?
Genuine headgaskets? Proper AE86 (not FWD) water pumps? http://www.skynet.ie/~eireae86 |
