Mounting 4agze
Hi all!

Are there any good ideas about wiring the 4agze in a hatchi?

I have the original 4ag harness and the 4agze and both ecu's.

Must I use the wires of the 4agze and also the junction blocks? Or can I
combine the two harnesses together.

That's a fucking hard task as far as i know...
thats the deal, tho, if you make that your fine.

In my car, i have a custom wiring loom using the gZe harness and ECU.

I ve heard in here for a guy in Netherlands that can convert the age ecu to fit the gZe harness.
Something like that might cost more but ts gonna save you alot of trouble.

Also you gotta keep in mind that: Its a CUSTOM job, so if you dont have a clue about it, more or less ONLY the guy that will do the job will be able to fix it...

The hard thing I guess is making the connections to the other wiring looms. You can probably hook up the GZE loom to the engine, but all the connectors that arent directly related to the engine will offcourse end up in completely the wrong place. You could extend the GZE loom and adapt it to look like the AE86 loom, or you could butcher the AE86 wiring and add what's needed for the GZE. Personally I would prefer to buy some new wires and adjust the GZE loom, that way you have something to fall back on if it should ever be necessary.
You could best wait for Ad's (turborolla) input on this though, he has lots of experience with this.

It's not too hard to do yourself.

- Get a good wiring diagram (Techdocs at http://www.toymods.org.au or through club4ag.com)
- Strip the casing off all the looms
- Work out what each wire is for and how much of the ZE loom you will need to use (It should be suprisingly little)
- Cut the plugs you will need off the loom (leave a few inches of trailing wire)
- Plug the plugs onto the engine
- Mount your ECU somewhere nice
- Run each wire from the back of the ECU to the plug on the engine (shorten the wire or add extra sections as needed)
- Splice any body wiring needed (ignition power, AC switch, etc) into the loom
- Start it up and enjoy that SC torque

Yes it is a bit of a bitch of a job, but well worth it. If anything ever goes wrong you will know exactly how to fix it.

And you can NEVER label enough things when you are pulling a loom apart.

yes hen is right not hard but just systematic work through it slowly and lable everything! the diagrams on club4ag.com are sufficient

when i took apart the loom for my one there were several modules which were not anything to do with the engine at all!

hopefully i will have a write up soon for you guys! as my 7age is rattleing! (too much supersaver engine oil) Thumbs up!

Is it easier to prepare the wiring while the engine is out of the car or should it first be put in the car and then wired up?

Usually the engine is put in first I guess, but I think that all the wiring is easier accessible outside the car, am I right? also more room for soldering...

I already put the engine in, connected the most of the wires.

Easiest thing is to mount the engine part of the wires before mounting. After installing the engine I put in the ecu. And then connecting the 22pins connector to the other relays/wires.
I have almost the complete wiring of the 4agze equiped car Thumbs up!
