My first MOT fail
So I went to the mot checkup yesterday (ouch friday 13th ) and failed. My first MOT-fail from 3 checks.
I was failed for 3 small points (luckily), nothing structural. - 1 rear licensce plate light - left side mirror got cracked/starred...forgot to change this...was used to the crack - 1 front light unit, where the reflector inside the unit is loose. Last time i changed my lightbulbs, the whole unit looked sooo solid. Anyone had this problem before? Im gonna check this light tommorow, details follow then, so if one of you already have some pointers, it will be a quickie . I also read/heard about those side mirror-kits. Which you can cut it yourself and glue them back on. Where can I buy this? Or shall i order them @ toyota dealer and get ripped off in alots of parts . Do they have this 86-mirror anyway? And how was your first mot fail?? I know mine is nothing compared to some of you guys... The guy from garage even said: Hey an 84 toyota?? Thats antique! Nice car!!! Ahh and hearing that you have to fix things up for your hachi, makes you feel like you're a real enthusiast lol + stress to fix it IN TIME! An '86 86 driver Zenki AE86 Levin coupe |

My first MOT fail
My first hachi MOT fail was on a steering joint that had to much play, replaced it but never noticed any difference. Expensive little sucker to..
The second was on warn out tires.. Sounds like you'll pass MOT in no time. As for mirrors, give Lennert (robokill) a call, wouldn't be surprised if he has a mirror or knows where to get one. I wouldn't go for the cut out mirrors anyways... (and you can also always lend one just to pass the MOT ) Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Spitfire Wrote:Damn, Im so lucky to live in a such a corrupted country like this where I have the opportunity to buy my self a MOT pass Same here .. MOT 10 moths ago... Rear left brake doesn't work at all, handbrake cable on the same wheel doesn't exist even, front tires are worn out completely, little free play in steering joint (same as Mux said), to loud exhaust (over 100 dB), side cornering lights don't work and a some other minor stuff... 20 euro bribe and that's it .. I have MOT again in 2 moths, this time with lot less problems on the car (at least all brakes and handbrake work, and front tires are now) ... every year they are more and more strict, hope to pass without any bribe Toyota scrap yard car park = AE92GTi - AE82GT - KE30 - KP62 |

My first MOT fail
It is almost impossible to bribe here in Holland: they get a lot of double-checks and if the car passed MOT initially and if at the double check the car fails the garage owner is in serious trouble.

My first MOT fail
Bribes... hahahahahaha
I live in the best country of all!!! You dont even need to go to the mot center to get passed, just leave your papers with someone who knows someone who is related with someone who knows someone that works there. I did mot last month, and 2 minor faultys: wipers and handbrake is not working very good. But last time i talked with a friend, her mother is the recepcionist in the mot center, result: clean sheet. worn bushes, missalignment, turn sinals, wipers, handbrake.... Of course, there are bribes too, just leave 50 euros in the ash tray, during the test, the little guy will look out for them. Cump´s Filipe Oliveira |
