My little project...
As you may remember, I bought my third coupe last summer. Originally for spares, but the condition of the car was better than I thought, so I decided to keep it and bring it back on the road! It has quite some rust damage, but nothing that can't be solved!
This is the car: Why motorsports? Because other sports require only one ball! |

My little project...
A couple of weeks ago the weather was finally good enough to start working on the car. When I bought the car the engine didn't run, and there were 3 problems responsible for all this:
1. The complete ignition system was lying in the trunk 2. The fuelpump didn't work 3. The starterengine was very tired Problem 1&2 were solved already last year, but thanks to my neighbour I now also solved problem 3 with a new starterengine, and I got it for cheap! I also started to take apart the front suspension so I could replace all the bushes (got no pic of those, but I think everyone here has them theirselve!) Last week I decided it was best to change all the moving parts in the front spuspension and steering system, everything was already disassembled or ready for disassembly. So I looked at my bankaccount, didn't sleep for several nights (because this part HURTS!) but decided to change the tie rods, rack ends and ball joints. I guess when everything has been put together this baby will feel as tight as a....errm, well.... (fill in your most dirty fantasy here!) The brakes are also under construction. I've rebuild the calipers with new rubbers (those pistons were dirty btw!), I'm going to fit new stainless steel Goodridge brakelines (7pcs), new Mintex M1144 pads and'I'll fill the system with DOT5.1. Together with the new discs I hope this will be enough to last some tracktime. Then there is the rust problem. Most parts which are rusted are easily interchangeable, so those parts will be swapped for better ones. I've already got a new set of doors, a new bootlid and I'm expecting my Kevlar bonnet and FRP wings to arrive soon. More news when available! And of course....PICS! Why motorsports? Because other sports require only one ball! |
