NZDMAE86's AE86 project ....
Hello, I have been checking out this site for a little while now, so decided to show you my project, I have just transfered it all from another forum, so there will be a whole lot of stuff all at once
My project car is a 1984 NZ New AE86 Levin, Ive had it for about 2 1/2 years. I'm slowly collecting the missing parts and tidying it up. I'll slap some photo's up soon. Had it dyno'd a while back, the old motor made 151hp (113kw) atw's, my new motor made just on 185hp (137kw) atw's Blue line is new motor, Red line is the old motor. Engine: Blue top big port head (ported and polished) Unknown cams? Adjustable cam gears TRD valve spring 365cc 4agze injectors Small port red top block Silver top 20V crank/con rods Wiseco forged/coated pistons (around 12.5 : 1 comp ratio) Silver top 20V ITB's on Techno toy tuning manifold Link ECU 4 - 1 headers, 2 1/4 inch under diff exhaust Super mega extra external oil drains of tumekeness Some of the crap thats in/on it: Pic's of the rest of the car, with the old wheels: Some more shit: (I'd just like to point out that the duvet under the coilover's aint mine, is a random one I found laying about, and Im not sure what the stain's on it are??) Crappy pics of car with new rims: MORE random photo's: Got the street fins and semi slicks for that 80's JDM race look (just need 1 foot more dish and TRD N2 flares) Old and new struts King stars, the King/stars of tyres. MORE shit: To stop me flapping about on the track To keep motor happy Sorting out whats gonna go where Pointless speed holes Fancy ass artistic picture of Cyclops Levin to finish. Ive been working on a cold air box for a little while, I wanted to get some fresh air into the engine, and also get rid of the filter socks as they have bugger all surface area. Just finished the intake, have not had time to make the partition yet, which will box off the filter from the engine bay. Better fucking work, took ages to make. Be mean with partition in there. Only down side is that the induction roar is now quiet as, can hear what the exhaust sounds like/leaks sound like. Got a crown wheel and pinion from a 4wd master ace, car has a 4.3 in it at the moment, new C&P should be 4.55, so should help it wind up a bit better. Also off to the panel beater (again) on monday to get this fixed: Fuck rust is gay. Well, got car back from the panel beater, they did a decentish job, and only took them 6 days. Right door was to f'ed to fix, so took down back up door, they took the rust out of that, but now have to take car back for them to blend it in. Have started the sand down. Also found a dude to come paint it in my shed, so once sandings done, will convert shed into shit house spray booth. Doing the paint at home should save me $1500, which is good, as i just purchased this off trademe, Good ol TRD 2 way LSD!!! Will rebuild it with my 4.6 CW&P, new bearings and seals, slap it in, and yay! After the OS track day I realised how crazily huge the difference in handling is without a LSD, not only was powering out of corners wobbly/slippery and gay, but also when braking hard it was shit loads more unstable. Also did a Gymkhana in it and it sucked, couldnt get the rear sliding, and booting it just made it understeer like a slut. So LSD = Good. And there you have it, thats about a years worth of project, car is in shed being sanded down ready for paint, hope to have it painted in the next few months |

Car looks awesome in that blue...
How do you find the BC suspension? Did you purchase it complete with front spindles or did you have to adapt them to the standard struts? http://www.super86.co.nz |

Super86 Wrote:Car looks awesome in that blue... Cheers, yeh im redoing it the factory blue. The BC suspension is good, 8 and 6kg springs are a little hard on NZ roads, but not to bad, and I dont think you get the option of buying BC's with the spindles? I choped up a spare set of struts. |

Got myself BC coilover too. I am using my car for daily and BC doing very good. Anyway I suggest you to paint the chrome parts on front set as they are going to be rust as hell.
Great project BTW! 1985 AE86 (ハチロク) Levin - Summer time daily driver |

Thanks for the kind words, I need a bit of motovation to finish the sanding I was kind of surprised myself about the power it made, more then I had hoped for. And I will be making a partition to block off the air filter soon, been meaning to do it for a fair while now. |
