sr5 idle help
ok so i have a few Q for any of you that knows about carbs and the sr5. im new to carbs but i understand how they work. ok so first off when i start it off it will idle good if i have the idle set at 1500rpm but if i lower it than it will not stay steady, it will stay with in about 300 rpms tho, and it will start to get ruff at around 1000 to 800 and will sometimes die at around 800. now my second Q is when its warming up if i give it gas than it wold idle, if i give it gas than let off the gas than it will just die. i know alot of stuff about EFI but carbs i only know the basics of the basics so i dont really know much about them other than miner adjustments and how most of them work so any help would be nice.

You only set the idle screw when engine is warm, just like EFI. Otherwise it won't idle correctly. Wink

Then the carburetor has a choke (comparable to the coldstart injector) and it is probably an automated choke (like most modern carbed cars have) so you better check if it is still working correctly. I think this what your problem possibly is. Tongue

Here you can find more info about how a carburetor works:

I had such a problem with my tach in the past as well so that doesn't surprise me at all. Tongue

Maybe its a good idea to get a clean air filter along the way as well if you haven't already done so.
